little engine

Cowichan Bay is a quaint fishing village near Duncan, BC. Once the gateway for European settlement of the Cowichan and Chemainus valleys, it is largely a tourist destination, drawing on its maritime history with fishing, a sailing regatta, ocean kayaking, whale watching, boat building and a hub of boutique shops—cheese, seafood, bakeries and artists' showrooms.

This little boat engine sits outside the Cowichan Bay Maritime Centre, a place that preserves, exhibits and demonstrates the maritime heritage and culture of wooden boats. Black and white photography adds an element of timelessness to this image.
