west coast fog

October 18, 2015

In nature's spotlight we visited Avatar Grove and stepped into the forest. While still in Avatar Grove, this time we step into the river's bed of Gordon River. Gordon River is a popular destination for kayaking. Generally speaking, it is a lower-water run except for the rainfalls of fall and winter, when it has multiple sections of high quality whitewater.

This image looks along Browns Mountain, capturing a low band of fog skirting the mountain's side. This is a typical fog in B.C.'s rainforest and mountains, very unlike the dense, all-encompassing fogs you would imagine fog to look like. The movement in the water, the whispy fog, the river's bed and the forested mountain all contribute to a moody image, which is the reason it captured Vince's artistic eye.
